Join The Crew
We are hiring a Sr. Director, Social Media & Community to lead our Social & Community team. This position reports to the VP, Brand, and takes Away further by being a leader of content, conversation, and culture.
In addition to the below responsibilities, this position will also oversee two employees and a team of five.
What you'll do as the Senior Director of Social Media & Community
- You'll define, champion, and execute a comprehensive global social media strategy, ensuring an integrated, platform-first approach that maximizes growth and aligns with Away's overall business objectives
- You'll be accountable for the development and strategic scaling of the social and community team, including identifying and growing talent
- You'll stay informed about global social media trends, emerging platforms, and best practices, ensuring Away remains at the forefront of the industry
- You'll champion brand strategy, aesthetic, and standards across all touchpoints, delivering a consistent creative approach that is fully Away but imagined through a social-first lens
- You'll implement innovative tactics that leverage industry and consumer insights to build a best-in-class approach, resulting in meaningful and long-lasting relationships with our communities
- You'll oversee and lead an editorial calendar that supports the broader brand marketing vision while building in social-first moments that break through
- You'll collaborate on the execution of paid and organic social media campaigns, including product launches, creator collaborations, and brand moments in partnership with the broader brand and growth teams
- You'll define and execute a holistic creator marketing ecosystem and community growth strategy that cultivates loyalty across social, creator, and digital forums
- You'll represent Away as a thought leader in the social and community space, influencing and establishing strategic partnerships that drive competitive advantage and innovation
- You'll set goals, track, analyze, and report performance, and identify and implement recommendations for improvement and growth
Who you are
- You have a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, including a minimum of 5 years of experience leading and managing multi-disciplinary teams (social, creator, community) in a high-growth, high-volume consumer brand environment
- Your proven foresight in anticipating market shifts, competitive moves, and platform evolution has resulted in the successful execution of functional roadmaps
- You're a visionary, empowering leader-someone who people want to learn from, work with, and are inspired by
- You're an expert in fluently tying channel performance to P&L drivers and communicating data narratives to the Leadership Team
- You're customer-obsessed-you understand our customers and how to speak to them at every touchpoint
- You're an exceptional communicator and storyteller who brings passion, energy, and inspiration to the forefront
- You're obsessed with how our brand shows up and have exceptionally high personal and team standards
- You're creative and innovative; you love to build great new things that are fresh and unique while staying on brand
- You're agile, and motivated by a fast-paced and ever changing environment

What We Offer
Our total rewards are inclusive of both compensation and benefits. What we offer within a salary range is dependent on a number of factors, including scope and qualifications for the role, skillset, and balancing internal equity relative to other Away employees. Salary and benefit offerings are reviewed during phone screenings to ensure alignment.
- Compensation: $190,000-$200,000 annually
- This role is eligible to participate in Away's Annual Company Performance Incentive Bonus Plan, the terms of which are determined at the discretion of the company
- Equity Grant: commensurate with level determined at the discretion of the company

How We Work
This is an office-based position that works from our Soho, NYC office four days a week. Our working hours are 9am-6pm et, but we embrace a common-sense approach to flexibility in the workplace. It's about being present, engaged, and balancing work with real-life needs.
