Description
Position Summary... The Director of Cultural Initiatives plays a critical role in shaping how Walmart shows up meaningfully in culture. Sitting at the intersection of culture, brand, and business, this role translates cultural insight into action-driving strategies that influence marketing, merchandising, partnerships, and enterprise priorities. This is not a campaign execution role. It is a senior brand and business strategy role designed for a leader who can identify emerging cultural opportunities early, align complex organizations around a shared vision, and move seamlessly from strategy to execution in fast-moving, ambiguous environments. You will help ensure that culture is reflected not only in what Walmart says-but in what it does. What you'll do... Set the enterprise vision for cultural engagement, defining how Walmart authentically shows up across moments, movements, and communities. Lead cultural engagement (multicultural) strategy and go-to-market, ensuring insight-driven, relevant, and scalable execution. Own brand partnerships and limited-time-offering strategy, from ideation through commercialization and launch. Partner on the commercialization and go-to-market of Walmart's soccer partnerships, connecting passion points to customer and business outcomes. Translate strategy at multiple levels, from enterprise frameworks and business strategies to campaign briefs and execution plans grounded in data, insight, and customer behavior. Partner cross-functionally with Marketing, Communications, Customer Insights, Media, Merchandising, Brand Experiences, and Corporate Affairs to deliver cohesive, integrated work. Balance innovation with operational rigor, ensuring work is on-brand, executable within enterprise processes, and built to scale. Define success metrics and KPIs, measuring short- and long-term impact and using learnings to refine strategy over time. Lead, mentor, and influence teams and partners, supporting day-to-day execution while elevating strategic thinking across the organization. Own highly visible, enterprise-level initiatives that matter to senior leadership and drive meaningful business impact. Qualifications Must-Have: Proven experience leading brand, cultural, or consumer-led strategy at a national or global scale. Strong cross-functional leadership experience influencing senior stakeholders. Ability to translate insight into actionable strategies and measurable outcomes. Experience working across marketing, merchandising, partnerships, or enterprise initiatives. Nice-to-Have: Experience with multicultural marketing, cultural engagement, or community-driven strategies. Experience with sports, entertainment, or brand partnerships. Background in consumer brands, retail, media, or culturally relevant platforms. The annual salary range for this position is $132,000.00 - $264,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.
